THE ROOTS & HISTORY OF TKD
Tae-Kwon-Do is the name given to
the ancient Korean art of self-defense, which has been practiced
in Korea for over 2000 years. It emphasizes foot (TAE) and hand
(KWON) techniques, as well as the spirit (DO) or mind of the
individual. Unlike many other sports, TKD is known to enhance
both physical and mental strength. The popularity of the sport
has since spread throughout the world and TKD became an official
Olympic sport in the 2000 Games.
BENEFITS OF TKD
TKD is an extremely effective form
of self-defense and the perfect way to sharpen the mind and
increase physical fitness. Students learn to develop greater
concentration and flexibility while relieving stress. TKD also
builds self-confidence and disciplines students to act with
integrity and respect.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO
LEARN TAE-KWON-DO?
The very first lesson of Taekwondo
is the beginning of a continuous journey of learning. Within the
first month, the student learns the basic stances, blocks, kicks
and punches. Steady training allows the student to advance from
a white belt to yellow and eventually black.
However, being a black belt is yet
another exciting beginning of learning. While the first few
years may have stressed learning new techniques, being a black
belt entails its own curriculum of physical, but more
importantly mental knowledge such as leadership. Taekwondo is a
learning endeavor that never ends. It continues to train and
shape you to …
BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE!
